update: smell of #gas has dispersed, took a walk to the village shop (in light drizzle) to get food - there was a #Cadent van in the car park, I think the workers were also in the shop getting food (which is fair enough, as they have had some extra work and probably need to hang around for an hour or two to check everything is OK before they finish for the day)

#AnglianWater were fixing a burst pipe in the next village and in doing so have cracked the high pressure gas main - apparently #Cadent (who got multiple calls) are now on site repairing this but there will be a smell of gas in the general area for the rest of the day..

Whole entire village smells of #gas - all the way from the village shop to my workplace (0,5 km distance), noticed by multiple people at work (and the staff in the shop). Called #Cadent on 0800 111 999 (gas emergency) who are going to send a van out to investigate (not seen the van yet, but there is no mains gas on this particular site so it would make sense for them to start with the main road in the village (where there have been leaks before and some new pipework recently installed)

Cycled to the shops, about 10 minutes away, along a winding 20mph road. Within a minute a #Cadent van blasted past me at about 50mph and then a guy tried to overtake me around a bend into the path of an oncoming car and when he couldn't he blasted his horn, tailgated me, and then shouted at me.

On the way back a black hatchback driver flew past and drove on the wrong side of a keep left and when I shouted "Hey!" out of surprise he gave me the finger and drove off.

All because I'm on a bike.

A bit of a different slant today photo-wise. Cadent have been ripping up the roads near us to install a new gas pipe infrastructure. Making an ungodly mess and being very troublesome for drivers and pedestrians alike.
It does have to be done though. It amazes me how large some of the pipe work is. Looks like there are underground controls for turning the gas on and off as well as maybe diverting it. Awesome engineering and really done quite quickly.
