Today was my last day as a program officer at the US National Science Foundation (#NSF) in the STEM Education Directorate, Division of Undergraduate Education (DUE). I'll be returning to my home institution, the University of Colorado Denver in the CU Denver School of Education & Human Development

It's been an interesting year to say the least. I've had the privilege to work with many great PIs who are doing excellent work advancing STEM education in our country. And I've been able to work with a fantastic group of dedicated and kind colleagues in DUE, many of whom I consider friends. We've funded some very exciting work that has gone through rigorous scientific review, and that is a satisfying feeling.

I hope to be able to share a lot of what I've learned with my colleagues at home and with the broader field. Some of us who are rotating out right now are thinking of ways we can support the PI community in advancing high-quality STEM education and we will have things to share soon.

Goodbye for now, DC. Hello Denver!

Well that's shameful.
The #UniversityOfColoradoDenver's Anthropology dept is 25 years past the deadline to return looted Native American ancestral remains to the local tribes as required by law.

If the 40 items in their inventory, guess how many they've returned?
Zero.
They have returned zero ancestral remains.
In 35 years.

Disgusting. Shameful.

Significant snowstorm on the way for Denver area, FEET of snow likely for the foothills; Latest snowfall forecast & discussion

We're just hours away from the onset of a significant Colorado snowstorm set to bury the Front Range foothills in feet of snow, and possibly bringing upwards of 12" of snow to the Denver metro area. Impacts will be greatest at higher elevations west of Denver and Boulder and across the western Palmer Divide, but the cities are looking at a significant snow event as well, and travel from late tonight through Thursday will not be advised, and in all likelihood impossible in some locations as dee

CAP provides support to employers in recruiting our undergraduate students, graduate students, and alumni for all types of roles.

This kid ran up to me and requested a photo when he saw me with a DSLR. It was cute, but also sad that I couldn’t easily share the photo with them—they didn’t speak English and just kept asking, “photo?” 😭

If anyone happens to know them, here you go! 😁

#Voted.

And yes I voted for @andrewbrandt for #BVSD #SchoolBoard, and also my friend and colleague at #CUDenver Jorge Chavez!

And heads up, Boulder County folks - in case you were not aware, there is an anti-vax person running for school board. And they are a biochemist! Do your research!
