There must be something in the water in Manitoba, they're all saying the same thing:

"Life is a Highway" - Tom Cochrane
"The Medium is the Message" - Marshal McLuhan
"The computation is on the tape" - Alan Turing (honorary Manitoban for the purpose of this bit)

Life began when someone's kid peed in the pool, unfortunately for all of us it evolved when someone else's kid drank it. Lots of other, lovely things have happened a long the way

Ah, yes, because what #JavaScript needed was to masquerade as an Erlang/OTP process 🤦‍♂️. #The only thing more mind-numbing than this concept is the GitHub README that reads like it was written by a bot high on caffeine. But hey, at least it comes with a "*builtin #TypeScript toolchain*"—because #reinventing the #wheel with unnecessary #complexity is always in vogue! 🚀

🚨 Breaking News: #JavaScript is now the gatekeeper of the book world! 📚🔒 Apparently, visualizing #ISBNs is *so* complex, you need a full #runtime environment. Who knew numbers could be this intimidating? 🙄

Why do systems fail before they collapse?

Not because they disappear —
but because inputs stop fitting their boundaries.

A boundary-first view of suppression and breakdown:

• Geometry remains
• Injection continues
• Boundary function degrades
• Persistence falls toward threshold

Why Systems Break Down — When Inputs No Longer Fit

Systems do not just fail because something “goes wrong.”

Why systems don’t fail suddenly — they quietly stop working first

Why Systems Don’t Fail Suddenly — They Quietly Stop Working First

Most systems don’t collapse without warning.

Another great line: "So long as we use a mathematics in which the whole is the sum of the parts we are not likely to have mathematics as a major tool in examining these questions." We differ on the evolution bit: IMO, some math is innate universal; in & of us. #complexity #meaning #superposition

🧬 A quiet pattern in biology…

An amoeba eats by wrapping food in a membrane — forming a temporary internal compartment.

Sometimes, what gets engulfed doesn’t get digested… it stays.

That’s how symbiosis begins — the boundary is retained, and both persist.

And now we’re seeing viruses that don’t just enter cells —
they build their own compartments inside them.

Three different processes.

One underlying pattern:
Create a boundary inside a system… and the system changes.

From digestion
→ to cooperation
→ to control

Biology keeps reusing the same trick at different scales.

Maybe complexity doesn’t just evolve by adding new parts…

👉 maybe it evolves by adding new boundaries
