CD Projekt Red just fast-traveled back to 2013 and announced a new Witcher 3 expansion
Details Of The Witcher Free-To-Play Multiplayer Game Emerge
Between The Witcher 4, the remake of the original game and the recently announced expansion for The Witcher 3, the brand has a lot of content in the pipeline. There has also been a spin-off project titled Project Sirious that CD Projekt Red revealed a while back. But it seems there might also be another unnannounced project for PC and mobile in the works.
MP1ST has the scoop, describing the game as a “free-to-play co-op action RPG” that is being planned for mobile and PC. No console release was mentioned, which is rather surprising.
According to what the team has uncovered, the new game takes place in 1230, when series icon Geralt was a much younger Witcher. But you won’t be taking control of the gravelly-voiced monster hunter, rather you’ll play as your own customised Witcher.
The gameplay seems to be focused on taking contracts to kill monsters. To that end, the combat is built on “A skill-based system” where you choose abilities from different Witcher schools, brew potions and using signs.
“This combat is said to reward player skill with well-timed blocks, dodges, parries, and executions,” writes MP1ST.
While MP1ST could not confirm the studio behind the project, they do point toward the most obvious choice: Scopely, a studio known for mobile titles like Monopoly GO!, Marvel Strike Force and Star Trek: Fleet Command. CD projekt Red announced a partnership with Scopely back in 2025.
I don’t cover mobile titles normally, but since this is coming to PC I wanted to discuss it. Admiteddly, the free-to-play and mobile nature of the game does not instill confidence in me, though, nor does Scopely’s usual styles of game. But there’s always a chance this could be something a little more amibitious.
It won’t be coming out this year, though. CD Projekt Red discussed the project back in March during an earnings call: “Scopely and their team are very iterative, and they work very fast and very hard, but it’s more about iteration and reaching a certain level of satisfaction that is felt on both sides – them and us – so things are happening, but, once again, it’s definitely not a story for 2026.”
