The march glorifies the attempted breakout of SS troops and Wehrmacht soldiers shortly before the liberation of Budapest by the Red Army and serves to network neo-Nazis and (neo-)fascists internationally. In February 2023, clashes with neo-Nazis occurred during anti-fascist protests. Several anti-fascists were arrested, and others were wanted on European arrest warrants. The anti-fascists evaded arrest and the threat of extradition to right-wing authoritarian Hungary for almost two years. On January 20 and March 20, 2025, eight of those wanted voluntarily surrendered to the authorities without a plea deal. Seven of them have been in pretrial detention ever since.”

The ‘Day of Honor’ is a commemoration of the final resistance of the Waffen-SS against the Soviet Union in Budapest at the end of the second world war. Despite the event is banned by Hungarian authorities, the far-right continue to meet on February 11.”
