Despite incredible lobby pressure from Big Tech & the Trump administration, the Commission has today fined Meta & Apple for non-compliance with the DMA.

At the same time, the corporate takeover in the US is an urgent reminder to tackle Big Tech's monopoly power now more than ever.

We encourage the Comission to continue with enforcing digital rules & to use other means to tackle Big Tech monopoly power. The time to break up of Google is now.

When researching a new car, I read countless automotive reviews declaring #googleautomotive the clear winner in UI design and functionality. Why should an automotive manufacturer even bother with any other platform, much less create their own, was the overwhelming consensus. After 18 months of having #Google in my car, I can say with some degree of confidence that it is hot garbage.

Those same articles that pooh-poohed VW’s interface for being too slow and BMW’s for being overwrought now read like myopic 90s tech journalism that asked why anyone would bother writing software for anything but #Windows.

We need real #ecosystems. We need actual #competition. When only one company wins, we are left with a race to the bottom for the dregs left over by the monopolist. #Microsoft ruined the PC by wringing every possible cent out of it because we let it. Google ruined, well, everything it has touched, by wringing every cent out of in ways Microsoft could have only imagined. Again, because we are letting it.

Do it. For fucks sake do it. Encourage competition, reduce the managerial overhead between the executives and the product stewards. Encourage products to be made to a higher quality and reduce closed ecosystem interdependencies.

Now I used to be a huge Google fan. But they've gotten to dominant. And other than Bing (kinda) there is not real competition for the Google.

I think it's time to break it up.
