I've been thinking about setting up a Fediverse instance dedicated exclusively to NSFW content (similar in spirit to kinkycats.org, but NSFW-only) or
Platforms to exclude (examples of problematic behavior):
- Lemmy
- PieFed
- Mastodon
- PixelFed
- loforo
Preferred platforms (candidates):
- Misskey
- Sharkey (a Misskey fork)
- Akkoma (may be heavy on older systems)
- Pleroma (may be heavy on older systems)
- Other options to evaluate
Server rules and governance:
- Create a clear Acceptable Use Policy (AUP) and privacy policy.
- Decide whether bots are allowed or if only human-moderated accounts can post.
- Admins and moderators:
- Two admins total; one admin has veto power. The main admin is the person who leases the server and owns the domain (the legal responsible party).
- Three or four moderators.
- Election process for admin(s) and moderators:
- Democratic selection weighted by contribution:
- Sponsors: 2 votes each
- Top contributors (best posters, most likes/boosts): 1.5 votes each
- Everyone else: 1 vote each
Next steps and open questions:
- Finalize platform choice based on moderation tools, federation behavior, and resource needs.
- Draft the AUP, privacy policy, and moderation guidelines.
- Define technical requirements (server specs, backups, moderation tools).
- Clarify whether automated accounts (bots) are permitted and under what rules.

fedinsfw.app who are an evil PieFed. A key question is which platform the instance should run on. I want to avoid platforms that harm other instances by spamming or rewriting tags/links to point back to their own sites.
