International No Diet Day⚖️

Cresce infatti l’attenzione verso temi come:

  • diffusione di approcci come “Health at Every Size”

‘I wanted my work to be shameless’: 93-year-old artist Joan Semmel on her trailblazing nudes

In the 1970s, the painter shocked the art world with paintings modeled on her own nude body. Now in her 10th decade, she’s celebrated as a feminist pioneer

There was a time when I thought modesty meant hiding.
Now I think it means intention.

I’m not trying to provoke.
I’m just no longer interested in shrinking parts of myself to make strangers comfortable.

Skin is not arrogance.
It’s honesty.

And peace sometimes looks like sunlight, salt air, and finally stopping the negotiation with your own body.

There is something about the sea that makes honesty effortless.

Clothes become practical decisions instead of protections.
Posture relaxes.
You stop performing modesty for people who were never really watching that closely anyway.

I was never very good at hiding.
Not emotions.
Not joy.
Not skin.

Yes, I show skin.
Quite a lot, actually.
Not as provocation, not as rebellion, but as comfort. As temperature. As trust in the moment I’m living in.

The body is not a scandal.
It’s simply proof that you arrived here alive.

Some places invite you to shrink.
Others quietly suggest you unfold.

And beaches have this gentle understanding that freedom often looks like sandy feet, sun-warm shoulders, laughter carried by wind…
and fewer layers than planned.

Besides, the best bikini bottom usually ends exactly where all unnecessary things belong anyway — somewhere in the sand.

A Beetoota Advocate satire piece e today reads: Demise of Menulog proves there’s no such thing as ethical food delivery you fat fuck.’ And then (paraphrase) no such thing as ethical food delivery…‘anyone who thought otherwise is, frankly, a fat fuck’. And the comments to my reply are worse. Here’s the thing: Punching down on fat people isn’t funny - it’s hurting a marginalised group. There are a myriad of reasons why people are fat, and in the vast majority of cases, it has nothing to do with being a lazy ‘fat fuck’ who can’t be arsed cooking or going out to get food. Rather, it involves complex issues such as socioeconomic status, food availability (and deserts), chronic illness and disability, mental illness, iatrogenic medicine (eg many medications esp for mental illness cause weight gain), racism, and other intersecting factors. @betootaadvocate can and should be better than this. Good satire is always about punching up, not down 😖 #fat #fatacceptance #fatacceptancemovement #fatactivism #bodyshaming #bodyshamingiswrong #disabilityactivism #bodyneutrality
