Heading east on SR-20 into the mountains was the first time I'd ever experienced that sort of thing. You could see civilization slowly disappearing as the mountains and forests took over, with the last real settlement being Newhalem, a company town for Seattle City Light. #cycling #bicycle #bicycletouring #biketouring

After internalizing my past suffering with cold #Winter weather and the fear of #hypothermia (which I've experienced on rides: https://flic.kr/s/aHskkRDRMc ) I've fallen out of love with century-level rides during the cold season. To add to that, some of my rides towards the end of last Summer have ended up pretty disheartening.

I think the best thing to do is to keep the rides shorter (at most a few hours) during the cold season and plan for some more interesting #S24O / multi-day rides in the future. Why try to cram all of the miles into one day when I can split things up and enjoy things more? #cycling #bicycle #bicycletouring #biketouring

I should also find some folks to go #bikepacking with. Any takers?
