As a weekend project, I'm going to install a fourth Linux distro on my desktop PC to get some gaming going! Batocera is a Linux distro that supports over 220 gaming platforms and consoles, including MS-DOS, PS1-PS4, and various controllers directly.

I've built a couple of custom handheld consoles for retro gaming using RetroArch and EmulationStation, and we have an arcade machine with a JAMMA circuit board at the office, but I haven't tried Batocera before. Let the games begin!

Die Einrichtung auf dem alten Raspberry Pi 400 war ein Kinderspiel. Die vorinstallierten ROMs eher nicht. Und neue / andere ROMs zu finden: Joystick-Archäologie.

The graphics requirements for Kazeta are bit heavier that I thought at first:

So not able to run on cheaply available mini PCs or Intel NUCs, as they don't have enough graphics "oomf" and can't easily have a graphics card added.

Batocera Linux is probably a better fit for older hardware with just Intel or AMD graphics are that included with the CPU.

👆 I got the #xarcade tankstick max to work very well with #batocera #mame games with the help of this info:

Trick was switching to mode 4 on back switch and using PM+X button to get joystick in right mode.

Diagram helped.

Spinner works with Tempest. Trackball with centipede. Etc.

I bought myself an #xarcade tankstick max for a holiday treat. I'm a little disappointed that it didn't work out the box with #batocera

Any tips?

Or do i just have to muscle thru the config?

Is there a better choice of platform for #mame specifically that works with the xarcade with spinner and trackball?

Created a Batocera 42 stick this morning, while ripping DVDs, just to try it out.
RGSX is a brilliant addition and a helpful French enthusiast ( The MiniCake TV) has created a BIOS library that it will download and auto-install to make sure all your saved images work. 👍
