Spruce root basket.
I'm working on two projects this fall and they both concern basketmaking with spruce roots. The aim is to find a nice type of basket suitable for courses and also to make a short film of the process. Keeping it as simple and functional as possible.

The work is finaced by Nämnden för hemslöjdsfrågor and Region Värmland.

Renfrew Ravine Park | Meet at Renfrew Ravine Labyrinth.

"Join Still Moon for another round of basket weaving and stewardship at the Mid Ravine site! We’ve removed nearly 80% of the English ivy ground cover and are aiming to complete or come close to finishing it during this session. We'll spend the first hour and a half removing ivy and other invasive species, followed by an hour of relaxing basket weaving. Come lend a hand in caring for this special site—and take home a handmade basket! We'll return in the fall to plant a rich mix of native species."

This site has both flat and sloped areas, and is accessed by a flat path, there is something for everyone to do here! If you need help getting to the site, or have other questions about accessibility, please email [email protected].

My local maker space is hosting a class on pine needle basket making next month. We are going to make some wood bottoms because apparently that’s an easier way to start baskets.
I wanted to make my own custom bottom incorporating the maker space logo. It’s 3-1/2” (89mm) in diameter and made from 2 layers of 1/8” ply glued together.

Yesterday @Pufferfish and I took a Pine Needle and Sweetgrass Basketmaking class at #wisconsinsheepandwool. I made this tiny basket out of pine needles and fake sinew that is just big enough to hold my rings. #FinishOrFrogAlong #basketmaking #crafting #FiberArts

@BUnicycling Do you know anything about basket making, and, particularly, cultivation of basket willows in Ireland?

I have decent info for Britain: osier beds marked on old maps, agricultural survey volumes from early C19, survey of Scotland, local heritage centres. But nothing for Ireland.
