it has been clearly inspired by the 1914 poem "Zang Tumb Tumb" by Marinetti, about the siege of Adrianople of 1912.
but while #Marinetti's "words-in-freedom" poem celebrates the dinamicity of war, by describing the battle using both onomatopoeia and refined words (that contemporary Italian soldiers couldn't even understand), private #Baldrick simplifies it for the "honest Tommy" of WW1: no unusual words, only the boring repetitive dizzying sound of death resounding over the trenches
