Yesterday was my second newbie training for #RollerDerby at the amazing #BCRD in Berlin. Interestingly, my biggest hurdles were un-learning from inline skating. Since both sports are so similar that muscle memory triggers, but unfortunately different in crucial details.

Specifically, with inliners, I don't really push backwards but rather lean my body sideways and place the feet almost completely parallel. Also, for the T-stop, with inliners I tilt the wheels "away" and drag them; with quads I tilt the breaking floot in angle towards the other, like a ballet dancer. Completely the opposite!

This will be a tough adjustment but the sport is just too much fun :3

Day One for the new training cohort here at Boulder County #RollerDerby ( #BCRD ) appears not to have sucked!

Can the current head of the recruiting committee (that's me!) and Tuesday trainer (also me!) stop anxiously chewing on her own stomach lining now? Maybe!
