#Armenia has 2.1 million hectares of #agriculturalLand, 72% of the country's land area. Most of this, however, is mountain #pastures, and #cultivableLand is 480,000 hectares (452,900 hectares #arableLand, 27,300 hectares in #orchards and #vineyards), or 16% of the country's area. In 2006, 46% of the work force was employed in agriculture (up from 26% in 1991), and agriculture contributed 21% of the country's GDP. In 1991 Armenia imported about 65 percent of its food.

The #rustic #sailorbeetle #Cantharis #rustica (#Cantharidae, #Coleoptera) belongs to the #soldierbeetles, which are characterized by a #softbodied appearance due to a soft cuticle sclerotization (apomorphy). The #species is widespread throughout #Europe and often occurs on #drymeadows, forest edges and lowland #grasslands or #arableland. Larvae and adults live as #predators from other insects. The individual was #photographed 2020 North #Berlin. #biodiversity

Something to keep in mind with #SolarPunk is that #SustainableDevelopment tends not to look like towering sky-scrapers with a few trees growing on their side, but rather starts with smart land-use. Car-dependent #SuburbanSprawl is not smart land-use and is not #sustainable, it's a waste of #ArableLand.
