BVL - Pressemitteilungen - Antibiotikaabgabe in Tiermedizin leicht gestiegen

Die Menge der in der Tiermedizin abgegebenen Antibiotika ist in Deutschland im Jahr 2024 leicht gestiegen. Laut Bundesamt für Verbraucherschutz und Lebensmittelsicherheit (BVL) wurden insgesamt 562 Tonnen Antibiotika an Tierärzte und weitere Empfänger abgegeben. Das ist ein Plus von 34 Tonnen (6,4 %) gegenüber dem Vorjahr. Im Vergleich zu 2011, dem ersten Jahr der Erfassung, beträgt der Rückgang 67 Prozent.

Niche-specific metabolic phenotypes can be used to identify antimicrobial targets in pathogens

The emergence of resistance to traditional antimicrobials increases the need to develop innovative approaches to understanding pathogen function. This study uses a computational data-driven approach to drug target discovery by identifying metabolic signatures of diverse pathogens conserved within body sites. In vitro validation shows that such site-targeted antimicrobials can effectively inhibit stomach-specific pathogens.
