I had a birthday recently, and by sheer coincidence, on the same day I received a little special surprise.

Rope made from alpaca wool! Courtesy of @mycotropic who is quite lovely.

The rope is plush, and quite soft. It's not the scratchy kind of wool. I fully intend to be integrating this into some ties and have some thoughts of a couple of new designs around making use of the texture for style and sensation. Stay tuned for those!

Alpaca wool is not only incredibly warm and soft but also hypoallergenic, making it a preferred choice for clothing and blankets for those with sensitive skin. Its sustainability and eco-friendliness add to its appeal in the textile industry. #AlpacaWool #SustainableFashion

Done.

I’m not thrilled - it’s okay. The sleeves are a little snug in the upper arm and it doesn’t hang gorgeously.

I am very happy to have learned the Icelandic cast-off method for that chocolate brown edging, though. I’ll have to wear it and see how it works in real life. And the fabric itself is soft and drippy.

LOOK AT THIS COLOUR! (The spots are sunshine coming through the vine leaves.) I dyed it yesterday and it’s still drying today, so it’s outside until the forecasted rain appears. Then I still have to sew in the loose ends and remove the waste-yarn cast-on. I will replace that with a few rows of a contrasting colour, although I don’t know that will be yet. Any suggestions? #knitting #FibreArts #FiberArts #dyeing #GarterStitch #cardigan #jacket #AlpacaWool
