Reflecting on five instead of three

It’s been a hot minute since I only answered one prompt in a post. Today is one of those days.

Undoubtedly the first one would be waking and offering prayers up. It always seems to be a good thing, okay most of the time. Sometimes I just want to curl back up under the covers and dream of coffee brewing.

Second on the list of gratitude would be of course coffee. My infusion of daily dark roasted delight begins the moment I walk into the kitchen and ends late at night, no wonder my sleeping habits suck.

My favorite number three. Let me stop and have a nicotine neutralizer before answering this one. Ahhh, nicotine and caffeine, what a delightful ritual for a retired truck driver, brings back memories of little dive truck stops across this great land. Back to the answer or it that the answer? no… it isn’t. Let’s put WordPress in this slot. I enjoy reading all your post even though many times I just like them instead of replying. It’s like we are all in a conference room or campfire sitting around telling our stories and enjoying each others company.

FORE! 😁no not golf. number four. [koffee is kicking in] and why isn’t it spelled like this? Everyday things?… The feeling I get when I take a hit. That’s correct, I love the sensation of the first buzz of the day. It isn’t always a wake and bake either, sometimes I don’t enjoy this ritual until late at night when I sit in front of the boob tube but it is a happiness I enjoy everyday.

And number 5 ? Can you guess? I thought so. Music. I mean what could possibly make me happier than pulling out a piece of vinyl and spinning it, letting the groove fill my soul with happiness and energy. This one could be a double edge sword though. I have musical talent coursing in my veins from my moms side of the family. I grew up watching my cuz learn to play and go on forming bands in his life, his sister learning to tickle the ivory, their mom and dad happy and alive while playing. Uncles and cousins making music made me feel alive. Now here I am in the latter stages of life trying to learn about midis and vst’s to imitate the sounds in my head. Until that day arrives [if it ever does] I will continue to spin vinyl and to share YouTube videos of what sounds good to me.

Sometimes

Late in the night it happens

I had a feeling sweep over me late tonight so I wrote this down. Then I took it over to Suno to hear it before the sound left my head. I’m not good enough to use the DAW yet.

I do not claim to be a musician but rather declare I am a lyricist and want to share what these poems sound like inside my head.

In my first post regarding my AI journey ‘Heavy Fog” An Introduction I talked about a few legal issues with copyright, trademarks etc… The laws regarding AI music is in a very grey area right now with the market being flooded with AI music that is produced quickly and uploaded to the air streams, people uploading multiple songs a week.

The way I understand this is that they are trying to make as much money as possible and as quickly as possible. I see many people bitching about their music being taken down after having 30 songs put out last in the last couple of months or so and I wonder if it is because it is generic or is it because it is not original material. I’ve listened to many tracks and find that there is no feeling in them and no heart in the lyrics.

While looking into the laws regarding this I have found that what I want is going to take a long time to make it right. Hence the DAW system I purchased. Mixcraft 10.6 Studio Pro is an amazing DAW that is pretty straight forward to learn to use and offers me the ability to make my music sound like me, not an quick generated melody. I do still use Suno for the basic foundation of my songs making multiple tracks to get the sound I’m looking for since I have a Pro account paid for the year I thought why not?

I can generate anywhere from ten to ninety versions of one song before landing on the one I want to use, this takes weeks for the most part, no joke.

Prompts are key to getting what you want, just like making AI images for your blog, the better the prompt the better the music. With my DAW this is not the case, there I find a beat that I like and slowly find the right instruments and melody I feel. It takes forever but hopefully the results will be heard and seen as I proceed into this journey.

I will touch on the copyright laws as these post continue with updates from the US copyright site. For now though I will continue to learn the ends and outs of making my poetry come alive with sound while trying to ease up on the worry that my songs will be taken and the words rearranged and put to different sound. I do have the words copyrighted as they are from my collection in my two books.

Also I want to thank the ones who take the time to listen and comment on them, you are greatly appreciated my friends.
