THE FEDIVERSE WORKS!

An awesome chap connected to 2 Degrees took pity on my moaning and made enquiries. Apparently the disconnect comes from the UK end, and their network ops applied a workaround on Monday.

Go #2Degrees!

My #2degrees phone has started hanging up international calls after exactly 15 minutes.

That sinking feeling when you hear "We're experiencing greater call volumes than usual...".

Then after 30 minutes of awful quality hold music, they have no idea about the problem, and have to escalate to "a back office".

Thanks for wasting half an hour of my life, 2 Degrees.

I'm considering changing mobile phone provider - mostly because One is tied up with Starlink. But 2degrees T&C appear to preclude business use, which makes it kind of useless to me, and Spark is the big original incumbent which I feel negative towards on principle. Any thoughts?
I'm a prepay user (also partly for cost, partly on principle - I hate lockin)

Visual / Live Voicemail has arrived for #iPhone users on #2Degrees in #NewZealand #LiveVoicemail

2degrees messaging seems to be going a bit haywire today. I've received the same messages from some of my JP clients multiple times, with no idea if the first delivery was delayed. The last time I remember messaging being like this was the Christchurch earthquake of 22 February 2011, but this time issues with RCS might be thrown into the mix?

Hopefully this means I'll have more reliable reception of SMS messages in the future. 2degrees have failed to send a reasonably large percentage of SMS to me, and cannot answer a reasonably simple question via their tech support lines. I "enjoyed" about a month's worth of back-and-forth with people who don't actually know what they're talking about (i.e. they were not the technical team but wouldn't escalate to them for answers). I think I actually know where my messages have gone, because I know things about their internal networks that most non-2degrees people do not. But would they actually follow-up? No, they kept on asking me to "check my handset settings" lol. So fuck those guys, there are other telcos out there and you can lose me in the churn.

Don't get me started on their broadband service; that's the next one to be switched but one thing at a time ...

@Firesphere
The #2Degrees management would do well to pin these lines from Eric's obituary on their walls:
"In his foreshortened tenure at 2degrees, he led the third mobile phone competitor in New Zealand to acquire over 1,000,000 customers and 21% of the subscriber market share by lowering the cost and increasing accessibility to mobile phone services throughout the country."
@Firesphere
#2Degrees lost the plot when Eric Hertz died.
Even as a foreigner Eric understood the NZ market better than any of his competition.
The current organisation has no clue, they are just another predatory telco.

Found this at the very bottom of a weather website.

Huh.
