Life has been insane these past few weeks, so I often haven't been available for JP appointments. Nevertheless, this evening I saw my 2,000th client since becoming a JP! And last week, I administered my 4,500th document.
I can tell it's going to be a busy week on the JP front. Being bombarded with texts first thing on a Monday morning!
Sadly not going to be a busy week on the acting front. I very nearly got offered a super exciting featured extra role in a feature film, but it wasn't to be. You win some and you lose some, but being shortlisted is an achievement in itself.
Sigh. I probably could have run an entire JP appointment in French just now if I didn't respond to "Vous parlez français ?" with "un peu". With languages you've got to be bold! Seize the opportunity to speak another language! Don't be timid by sitting on your budding gift.
My birthday week is proving fairly quiet on the JP front which is nice. I still have no idea how to anticipate when it's going to be a busy week versus a quiet one!
As a JP, I see over 1,000 clients a year, often for large organisations that benefit from unpaid JP labour at scale:
- Banks and lawyers outsource much of their identity verification to JPs.
- Immigration NZ, the education sector, embassies, and many other public institutions depend on JPs to certify documents and get applications covered under the Oaths and Declarations Act.
And why wouldn't an organisation tap into this seemingly limitless source of unpaid labour?
Not one but two other JPs recognised me and came over to say hi at Decult Conference. Do all us ex-cultists have an overcommitment problem and end up becoming JPs?
