Words like “#prowess” and “#tapestry,” which are favored by ChatGPT, are creeping into our vocabulary, while words like “#bolster,” “#unearth,” and “#nuance,” words less favored by ChatGPT, have declined in use.

Researchers are already documenting shifts in the way we speak and communicate as a result of ChatGPT — and they see this #linguistic #influence accelerating into something much larger.

In the 18 months after #ChatGPT was released, speakers used words like “meticulous,” “delve,” “realm,” and “adept” up to 51 percent more frequently than in the three years prior, according to researchers at the #MaxPlanckInstitute for Human Development, who analyzed close to 280,000 #YouTube videos from academic channels.

The researchers ruled out other possible change points before ChatGPT’s release and confirmed these words align with those the model favors, as established in an earlier study comparing 10,000 human- and #AIEdited texts. The #speakers don’t realize their #language is changing. That’s exactly the point.”

@nileane i'm actually so fucking pissed about this. it's so annoying. hey, dipshits, i know it may be hard for the "greatest brains on earth" to understand this, but a lot of us actually speak more than one language!

i'm now in a situation where my youtube ui is english, like most of the stuff i use, but sadly, the allegations are true, i am french. so #youtube, like the genius it is, will auto-translates titles written in the tongue of the carte-vitale, to the (no)king's english which is already extremely annoying to me... BUT THEN, IT WILL TURN AROUND AND AUTO-FRENCH-AI DUB ENGLISH VIDEOS! aaaaaaah!

i swear to god, there is nothing more jarring than opening a nilered short and then, getting ready for the classic "what i have here" and instead, ending up shell shocked by some random ai dude going "ce que j'ai ici" with a tone so monotonous it would make elon musk sounds like he had double digit charisma points.

like, how the hell can you fuck this up so bad that you end up giving me the worst outcome possible for the two languages i use?!
