Sandhill cranes on ice during the Christmas weekend’s snow storm. The bright red color of their eyes and crown popped in the contrasting whiteout conditions created by the snowfall and the ice on the lake. They didn’t mind the gale winds of over 55 miles per hour or the last week’s wind chill of -15 F (-26 C) either.
