Welcome to the next round of folks now joining this place, especially #journalists. I’ve been here for 6 weeks, and I really like it.

But it is different than what you were used to. It rewards being directed and proactive about who you follow and what you do here.

Sometimes it is boring, which is great, because that means you can get offline and like, live your life.

A lot of times it’s great. I’ve learned so much here.

Media and communication scholars have tried to unpack platform power by theorising forms of corporate control that include “algorithmic power” (Bucher, 2018), “curatorial power” (Prey, 2020) and “metric power” (Beer, 2017).
