In the early days of undersea research at NOAA, scientists needed to surface regularly when SCUBA diving to study coral reefs and other habitats. This slowed down their progress, making it difficult to conduct longer studies. All that changed with the introduction of the HYDROLAB.

The Heritage team at NOAA opened the 18th showing of our Treasures of NOAA's Ark exhibit last night! If you're in the Atlanta, GA area, stop by and see it at the Tellus Science Museum, now through 10/29/23! This was definitely the best work trip I've ever taken!

UPDATE: So far, I don't like #hive as much as Mastodon, but that may be because the Android app is atrocious. Apparently, it's very new, so I get it, but it really makes it hard for me to interact fully in Hive. Unless something really changes, I think Mastodon is my new social media home!

If you enjoy someone's post on #Mastodon go ahead and click the star. If someone tells you that's meaningless because there's no #algorithm, ignore them. Sure, boost the post too if you want others to also see the post, but don't think telling someone you like what they posted is somehow unimportant. In real life I don't tell someone, "good job," or "well said," or "I love that," for the sake of some algorithm, I do it because I'm human and they are too. It's fundamental to being truly social.
