@Joshua344 food prices have become very expensive. Some grow their own if they have space and are good at it. Farming is often subsidised because we import so much. There is a drive to produce organic, but it's even more expensive to produce. I'm hoping to grow my own.

GREAT NEWS! The Solarpunk Film Festival here in Portland will happen again next year (May 2026)... so you can start working on that #solarpunk short film *now*!

(I'm pumped because I couldn't get my submission done in time, and now I've got a year!)

Please share!!

Hosting a #RepairCafe? Know about a #LibraryOfThings in your town? Organizing a #CommunityGarden? Looking for volunteers for a #Rewilding project? The #SolarPunkSunday team wants to know about it! Just use the hashtag and we'll amplify the signal! We know there's a lot of good going on in the world, but we can't be everywhere at once!

Another World is Possible! #solarpunk
@ryanc most simply it's a literary and social movement about defeating apathy and despair by imagining achievable but radically good futures so that we can have something to aim towards and motivate us. Part of having them achievable is that it always involves stuff that we can do now ourselves, so there's not a clear boundary between what we imagine and what we're tangibly building. The 'solar' part is the practical yet abundant and decentralised energy we can work with right now and on a much bigger scale, and the 'punk' part is acknowledging that achieving these futures won't be simple or easy but refusing to give up hope
I hope that helps, happy to answer any more questions on the topic!

I needed to read good fiction today and Ryka Aoki’s ‘Light From Uncommon Stars’ was it. Queer, trans, classical music, video game, donuts, sci-fi, fantasy, solar punk, Asian American, SoCal, Star Trek, all at once. And the familiar sights and smells of Monterey Park. So good.

@joan_de_art makes great solarpunk art. You've likely seen one of these floating around, but I found the source if one wanted to know. Anyways, these do a good job of introducing solarpunk ideals and capturing the spirit of solarpunk design.
