Apologies for reduced interaction lately - due to ill health.

In life, possessions are not what is important. Friendships and family are. Shared experiences are. Helping others achieve their potential. Making the world a better place for everyone. Stop voting for Politicians who only care about 'stuff' like gold wallpaper.

(Who I am isn't important - I'm not here to promote myself)

Life is an education, and I hope to learn from many of the wonderful people here.

First they came for the trans community and I spoke out. They said I was deviant, they said I hated women, and they tried to silence my voice.

Then they came for the immigrants and I spoke out. They said I was unamerican, they said I hated my country and they threatened me with deportation.

Then they came for the judges and I spoke out. They said I was a traitor to law and order, they called for my job, and they threatened me with jail.

Then they came for the journalists and I spoke out. They branded me fake, they spat the word enemy and they put my name on death lists.

Then they came for the Senators, the Mayors, and our elected representatives and I spoke out. They said I was inciting violence, they said I was promoting chaos, and they sent armed soldiers in tanks to my city.

Then they came for the teachers, the librarians, and the protestors and still I spoke out. They pushed harder. Arresting, banning, deporting, murdering. Because democracy is dangerous when it does not serve them, and a democratic voice that will not be silenced the most dangerous of all.

Eventually they will come for you. And there will be nobody left to speak out.

"What will happen when it's illegal to be #trans everywhere and there's nowhere for us to run anymore?

Do you think we will all just #detransition, wash our hands, and say, well, we gave it a good run, now back to the grind?"

As I watch the behavior of the leaders of the US and more often than not, the UK, I am reminded of the words of Hannah Arendt, someone who saw more barbarism than most, and who recognised its root causes.

Operation Wetback, 1954: a federal program to hunt down & deport undocumented immigrants from Mexico.

Somewhere between 1.1 and 1.5 million were rounded up & deported.

And yet again, many were documented migrants or US citizens.

The US & its preceding colonies were at war with tribes ~each year from 1610 - 1920s- 300 years.

There was more opposition from white folks than you'd think; but it wasn't broad-based, organized, or effective. We're still breaking treaties with tribes today.

Palestinian child Razan Abu Zaher is one of thousands of Gazan children suffering from acute malnutrition, as Israel continues to block all crossings and prevent humanitarian aid from entering.

Five-year-old Razan weighs less than 5kg and urgently needs medical treatment abroad.

Timothy Snyder:

The people described as "undocumented" or "denaturalized"
(and other categories sure to be invented soon)
are portrayed as criminals.

If the Trump regime tries to enslave such people on a large scale, there will be a court case.

But waiting for the Supreme Court to do the right thing is, to put it gently, no substitute for action.

It would be good if there were explicit legislation banning slave labor in all circumstances -- But such a law is unlikely without a movement behind it.

The government is putting before us the temptation to cooperate in fascist dehumanization on a grand scale -- But that does not mean we must do so.

This is an area where actions by individuals, by civil society, by the professions, and by companies can be decisive.

Thinking about...
True fact.

I don't know how else to reach you, so I'm asking you - maybe they'll hear us this way.
Please share these photos. Show them to your politicians. This is the Kyiv metro.
Every night, Ukrainians hide here from Russian missiles. Families sleep on the cold floor with their children.
Please, help us. Close the sky over Ukraine.

Hiring: Well-trained, independent and committed people under forty with their own vehicle and 30 years of professional experience for our young, dynamic team.

@kalfatermann 🀣 πŸ‘
@kalfatermann @VeroniqueB99 Yeah, discussions about the unemployed always focus on the person's willingness and effort to get a job, but never factor in the willingness of employers to employ.

@anne_twain @VeroniqueB99

And what is often forgotten: An hour of working time is an hour of life, and this life is equally important for everyone. But then money comes into play, and suddenly one person's one hour is worth more than another person's one hour. If we all worked hand in hand, what could we achieve?

....nearly everything!

@kalfatermann Money is not the cause of that problem. Human nature is the problem. If you take money out of it, you still get people complaining that they're doing more of the work.

@anne_twain

Correct, it is not the primary cause, but the sensation associated with it and how it is interpreted.

@kalfatermann That's not what I said.

@anne_twain

I'm sorry , but then I misunderstood. I thought of the human flaw.

@VeroniqueB99

I think The Orange 🀑 found one of those jobs!

@Tengrain πŸ€£πŸ€£πŸ€£πŸ€£πŸ‘

@VeroniqueB99

Kellyanne hasn't had a job in her entire fucking life of assholery and shitfuckism.

@GGMcBG πŸ€£πŸ‘

@VeroniqueB99

about 70% of people on medicaid ALREADY WORK

but they work for evil companies

the welfare cheats are Walmart and their ilk

@VeroniqueB99 πŸ‘ŠπŸ’™ he's got a point there.
@VeroniqueB99 AK AR CA CT DE GA IN KY LA MA MS NV NH NJ NC ND OH OR PA PR RI SD TN UT VT VA WV have "filial responsibility" laws, statutes holding adult children legally responsible to provide financial support/care for indigent parents.
If Medicaid funding is withdrawn, a whole lot of Trumpers are about to discover that they’ll be caring for Mom, Dad, Grandma, & Grandpa -themselves-, or seeing the state garnish their wages & attach their property to cover the bills.

@VeroniqueB99'm thinking of a friend's son with narcolepsy. Currently employed, but absolutely dependant on expensive meds.

@VeroniqueB99

i wonder if maga will wake up when nursing homes start to close and their meemaw has to move into their homes and they have to take care of her themselves

just wondering

@samiamsam @VeroniqueB99 they'll blame Obama death panels when Meemaw dies in the streets because it turns out the providing full time nursing care for a senior, whilst working full time, and
Looking after children proves impossible.

@samiamsam @VeroniqueB99

It will be interesting. When I was last dipping my toe into that world from time to time, they were vociferous in their "He won't cut Medicaid,. He promised!!" rejoinders to any observation about the inevitable implications of the GOP budget.

I'm sure they'll find someone else to blame, or adopt a "we've got to get through tough times to get to the promised land" approach.

@VeroniqueB99
I don't know any companies hiring the minor children of military families either.
@VeroniqueB99 yeah . I’m old so follow along because the older you get the more people with chronic and/or terminal diseases you know.
My friend with ALS. Don’t even go there.
My best friend who has rheumatoid arthritis. The last time she could bend her fingers was probably 2015. Maybe.
The friends in their 60s and 70s with cancer that’s metastasized.
I mean I could go on and on but my only take is that they want them to die.
@CatDragon yeah...😒
@CatDragon @VeroniqueB99 I realized that when COVID hit. Hey most of the people that were going to die .... you know, weren't perfectly healthy already! So filter them out!
@Veronique unfortunately not many people on medicare could hope to get the job and lifestyle enjoyed by her but life has a way of teaching smug people a harsh lesson in reality too.

@VeroniqueB99 I worked for the City of Seattle, once. It was a β€˜temporary’ job, that was renewed every 6 months, so they didn’t have to give you medical insurance or any other benefits.

Just because you work full time, for a couple of years, even for the government, doesn’t mean you get any benefits.

@Susibryant πŸ’― exactly.
@VeroniqueB99 I hear that Supreme Court judge is a viable career option in those circumstances
@VeroniqueB99 Hate to break it to ya all, but if you find yourself out of a job AT 50, you are shit out of luck.
@jillholl It think that was his point... you really are outta luck... AND sick.

@VeroniqueB99

Says the wicked witch of the west…

The vile evil stupidity of this is simply incomprehensible…

@xs4me2 🀣🀣 🀣 πŸ‘
@VeroniqueB99 Thats the end goal...work till you die...
@VeroniqueB99
Kellyanne Conway,
I hope you break an arm and leg, come to a hospital to find it closed, ask bystanders for help and they tell you to fuck off and find an honest job...
Something something Death Panels.
@VeroniqueB99 KellyAnne gives the equivalent of: Let them eat cake.
@gecole πŸ‘ πŸ’―
@VeroniqueB99 WHO’S GOING TO HIRE THEM? AQUAMAN?
@Crovanian πŸ€£πŸ‘

@VeroniqueB99 One of the interesting things about the Trump administration is that these moneyed types who've been telling themselves these myths for generations, now have the opportunity to test them against reality. ( Unfortunately for Americans, who are the guinea pigs in this lab test.)

Are people on Medicaid malingering?
Can the unemployed get jobs "if they want to"?
Is the weather reporting service just a waste of money?
Will tariffs on imports actually make things better for Americans?
Are vaccines doing more harm than good?

Stand by for more revelations!

@anne_twain πŸ’― πŸ‘ exactly.
