What's truly bizarre is reading posts on LinkedIn by people I know well, especially - say - people I've had a few beers with and worked with long enough to know how they really talk and act on the daily.

Like, why are you cosplaying a corporate drone? That is not you. It's really not convincing or worthy of you.

Nobody on LinkedIn has ever had a bad day. Every setback is a "growth opportunity." Every firing is a "new chapter." Every complete professional disaster is framed as "excited to announce." These people would describe the Titanic as "a bold pivot to submarine operations."

Well it's a deal breaker for me.

What a stupid time to have a degree in International Relations.

Zohran Mamdani had +38 approval upon his election. In under 2 months heโ€™s:
โ€ขSecured universal childcare
โ€ขPaid New Yorkers $30/hour & survived a blizzard without disruption
โ€ขRemained wholly honest about the massive budget crisis NYC faces
โ€ขDemanded Hochul tax billionaires instead of working people
โ€ขGot Trump to commit $12B to NYC for affordable housing, and
โ€ขDid it ALL without corporate money

His approval is now +48.

Almost like working people love public servants who fight for working people.๐Ÿคฏ

I picked up the paintbrush today for the first time in a few years

if it is not a financial issue, then why fire so many people? LOL.

They changed their tone recently. Instead of telling the press AI has resulted in job loss, now they are saying those people were not "culturally" fit. They are doing this because AI is getting bad and negative press, and it bothers them when social media tags their CEOs and company handles, or reputed media shows how big tech is replacing tech workers with AI. So they changed the narration to keep stock UP! That is what I think

"Young elephants only start to learn how to use their trunks when they are around 8 months old."

This one doesn't know how to use it.
