So this is when I am going to miss the bird site and the ability to widely broadcast some cool findings very easily. We have three new Pepper lab manuscripts to discuss. Really happy to see this paper is out! It’s the brainchild of our dear postdoc Jonatan Ersching, who passed away in 2020. It’s not only a science story, but also the story of how we came together as a lab to finish what Jony started.

A request for media outlets: please don't use loudness on social media as a proxy for expertise. For biomedical sciences, try going to https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/ and typing in the person's name and affiliation and see if you come back with primary research publications that are highly relevant to the topic. If not, please consider interviewing someone else/declining op-ed pieces. Lots of bizarre stuff out there that could be avoided with this simple step.

Indiana ended fiscal year 2022 with a budget surplus of $3.9 BILLION (with a "B"!). This is the largest budget surplus for the state since at least 1976 (which was as far back as I went) by a huge margin and SIX TIMES what the state predicted it would see in 2022.

I would love to see this record surplus lead to record investment in education, healthcare, economic development, social programs and infrastructure.

The harassment of public health officials and simultaneous mocking of transgender individuals from Mu$k was it for me. I will no longer be using Twitter. So figured I'd do a proper #introduction here!

I'm a PhD candidate at the #UniversityofWashington Seattle's MCB program. I study host-microbe interactions in the intestines in Ollie Harrison's lab who is at the Benaroya Research Institute.

I enjoy all manner of outdoor pursuits outside the lab and love to create by baking and crafting.
