Sneak peek of me redoing my first character. It's in its few final phases.

I'm quite proud that I managed to finish my first jacket rig in #blender made with Rigify. The jacket "kind of" needs its own rig since her default design has them off her shoulders, so it needs to be adjustable.

Well, there you go, she can thrust now.

I've never used Unity (mostly experience with Unreal and a bit with Godot), and I keep fumbling with importing assets and export settings. But here I am.

I also got a rudimentary event system set up for complex animation events. But for now this will do, I have to continue implementing stuff... and no this won't be a final animation. Animations will come much later.

Wrapping up 2024 with my fifth and final month of learning #blender and #3d from zero.

I've learned everything I think I need to learn to make 3D game assets, from #3dmodeling to texturing to baking to animating, and it's time to dive in.

Don't fear her... aura. She's nicer than you might think.

She is fully rigged and baked, totaling about 50k tris for everything including the accessories. Safe to say I learned a lot in making a baking-friendly workflow. I hope she functions well in the game...

The power of baking normals. 80%-95% of the look (basically indiscernible from gameplay viewing distances) with less than 10% of the poly count.

Made physical-based toon glass material. It's physically accurate and uses less than 20 nodes, which means it can be easily recreated in game engines and is versatile. Works well with outlines.
