On 28th April 2023, we launch the “Histories of the Global South” series - lectures, seminars, documentaries - which will run in 2023-24 at the University of Copenhagen. We begin with a talk by Professor Vineet Thakur based on his most recent book “India’s First Diplomat”. The work unearths VS Srinivas’s pioneering role as an Indian diplomat and the making of liberal internationalism.
All are welcome.

Open lecture by Professor Vineet Thakur.

Next was a deep qualitative examination of #India's business friendly orientation by @rkadelhi at the University of #Michigan. I especially appreciated the recent historical analysis of changes to India's approach to multinational #business and #investment in general https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wahyalA1LAo (3/4)

I guess since this is my new "home," I should do an #introduction post: My name is Eladio Bobadilla. I'm an assistant professor of history at the University of Kentucky, where I teach about social movements, immigration and ethnicity, and the working class. I'm married to @timaree and am a dad to an amazing little boy, who will, in just a few weeks, welcome a baby brother into the family! #histodons

Hello, recent arrivals! I have no tech advice for you, more of an "ethos" tip:

When I first migrated over here a few weeks ago, my feed here initially looked kind of, well... boring? Quiet?

With no algorithm driving clicks and eyeballs, the onus is on *us* to make the space interesting and fun.

If you want Mastodon to be lively, look for interesting conversations to join. Tell us the interesting things you didn't want to say on that other site.

I am a historian interested in the decolonization of British and French Colonies/Trusteeships in Africa through the lense of large technological systems, especially high dams. My further research areas are: Global history, media and gender history and cultural history of the political. I am based at Bielefeld University.

Just got the jacket for "Scripts of Power", which will be published in late January 2023 by Permanent Black. So excited!

Hello all. I just wanted to take a moment to say how delightful it is to be part of the Mastodon community. Since leaving the flock and joining the herd, I’ve found so many friendly, interesting, and helpful people. The positive energy here is truly remarkable and I’m committed to helping to keep it so. Please feel free to ask me for book recommendations. I also know a thing or two about small optical instruments (binoculars, telescopes, etc.) and I’m happy to advise on that subject as well.
Hello #histodons, I guess I should introduce myself (#newhere). I'm a historian of socialist #Yugoslavia with a particular interest in global entanglements. My first line of research was focused on socialist urban planning (see Designing Tito's Capital: Urban Planning, Modernism, and Socialism in Belgrade.) My second line of research is labour migration (see Citizens Without Borders: Yugoslavia and its Mirgrant Workers in Western Europe.) This is something I am still working on.
#question from a new #twittermigrant lost in the country called #mastadon: does one need separate accounts/names on different servers. How does this work? Also, how do #academic lists work? Will appreciate tips. @histodons @anthropology @sociology @politicalscience @internationalrelations
