Neuroscientist. Molecular ultrastructure of synapses with #cryoET and other fun tools

Every time I don't reply to something with "let me google that for you" an angel gets its wings.

I wrote a tribute to Chuck Stevens, an incredible scientist who passed away recently. I was fortunate to work with, and learn from, him over the years. I will deeply miss him. #biophysics #neuroscience

How did #protein learn so many folds? We report a timeline and mechanism of emergence of the oldest folds: from beta-barrel SH3, to OB, to cradle loop barrels.

Belated intro as people migrate here in earnest:

I'm a neuroscientist currently postdocing at Stanford. My research is focused on how nanometer-scale protein organization controls cellular signal transduction at synapses and beyond. I use a range of techniques, including #cryoET , #mousegenetics, and #smlm to visualize and manipulate this organization with molecular resolution.

Also into dogs, coffee, science tattoos, and objectively dumb humour 👋

Et voilà!

Very proud to have successfully replaced the twitter timeline with a Mastodon timeline on the "news" section of @Spirochrome website!

@zannah_du I can't say I know exactly where it came from, but the intent is similar to "fly by the seat of your pants" / "winging it"
