"Race condition."
"Who’s there?"
@sproid The desktop environnement shouldn't really be important unless you're not running headless. Terminal + SSH should be enough to operate your server away from graphical applications.
Having your own #homeServer sure is a great learning experience. I'm wishing you luck! 🍀
HP are such scammers
I posted about this very cheap printer before, which strongly suggests that there is No USB, only Wifi. When I first got it I figured out how to print over the network without using the app they try to bully you into downloading.
It turns out it's even easier to print, just use the USB port they try to pretend isn't there!
No company is going to rewrite their firmware to remove the USB stack. It's even more expensive to redesign the hardware to get rid of the USB port physically. They opted for the cheapest option, a little sticker.
They are just trying to store everyone's documents in their stupid cloud service that some teenage extortion group is going to break into and leak one day. Don't give them your data.
@ezra If you're setting up Jellyfin with Docker, the distro shouldn't really matter in the end. I've went with Fedora Server because I'm used to the Workstation edition on both my desktop & laptop. I had some issues initially with firewall rules (firewalld) but it was smooth sailing after that.
If your friend only want to run Jellyfin, I'd say go with what you're more confortable (Arch). The main maintenance would be to update the Jellyfin image, which can be done automatically with Watchtower.
@Mundon Wow, we got ours around the same time! I've paid for it at the end of August and received it early September.
A few months ago, it was possible to check playtime for each platform via steamdb.info but Valve made some API changes so it's no longer possible; last time I've checked I had a total of 300+ hours on #SteamDeck (in less than a year) compared to 1000h on my Windows desktop since 2019.
I totally get the "throwing controller" feeling, it made me a calmer gamer haha 😆
