@atpfm @siracusa @marcoarment @caseyliss I use dark mode because it hides the floaters in my 45-year-old eyes.
@alexcox @hotdogsladies The ongoing banter between you two is my favorite part of this here Mastodon.

#Mastodon 4.2 is rolling out across the social web! On our quest to make Mastodon more delightful and easy to use, we've overhauled search, sign-ups, cross-server interactions and a whole lot more:

In this massive update we've added search and removed friction. What's not to love?

@alexcox I've got unlimited vacation / sick / personal time. In 2023 I've already taken 16 days of PTO, 5 sick days (I get migraines), and I have 2 more days of PTO booked later in the year.

My manager encourages all of us to take whatever time we need, whenever we feel like it, and we do. As long as work gets done and people aren't bailing on big projects or at "critical" times, nobody worries about it.

@grammargirl Formally, I think "you all" (with its obvious contraction) is the best choice because:

a) it's already in widest use among American English speakers.
b) it's ungendered.
c) it makes syntactic sense. "You all" is clearly a plural "you" and is the easiest to understand for both native and non-native speakers. "Yinz" and "youse" are nonsense words.

@britt One of the finest trash foods! Frosted Chocolate Fudge and Frosted Cherry are the pinnacle of food engineering.

@messick @mathowie The site explicitly provides an API for doing exactly this, along with a support forum to discuss how to use it.

https://developer.themoviedb.org/docs

This is what open access enables. People can create new experiences and overlays on top of data. Users can choose which to use. Much like, say, paid Mastodon and Birdsite and Reddit apps.

If you don't find value in the streamlined and pleasant mobile UI, don't buy it. But it's not a con or grift or "scraping."

@messick @mathowie Using a public API with total permission from the site is "scraping?" Interesting take.
@caseyliss FYI it's live right now, and I just installed it. Unsure if that's a problem for you, but congratulations!
