#tutorial (part 3, end)

- I put the cap on the headphone, and adjusted just how much of the lower end (what was the long side of the rectangle) had to be rolled in order to stitch the cap to the base WHILE making the seam AND making sure the fabric was taut but not overstretched. This is the bit where I could have used upholstery needles, since the inside of the headphone contains a hard ellipse.

This has all been done with a double threaded needle and a straight stitch, nothing fancy.

#tutorial (part 2)

- I stitched together the short ends of the rectangle, to make it into a ring.

- I capped the ring by stitching the ellipse on top of it.

#tutorial (part 1)

For each side:

- I cut 1 ellipse exactly the same size as the headphones. Plus seam allowance, but not too much, because I wanted the internal material to push out against the fabric, as to look more plushy.

- I cut 1 rectangle, with the length equal to the perimeter of the ellipse, and width equal to the depth of the headphones (the "pit"). Plus seam allowance as mentioned above, but this time both for stitching this to the ellipse AND to the base.

While working on this, people asked to commission similar customisations for them. I had to turn it down: I can spend time on my own things, as a creative outlet, but doing this on commission would mean charging more than feels right for what I can offer.

Instead, I taught them the basics of sewing, hoping they'll be able to customize by themselves (or alongside me) and learn to love the result of their work, with all its imperfections.

Just like my backpack, my headphones were peeling, so I upholstered them with fabric from an old T-shirt in my "rag pile".

I didn’t know curved upholstery needles were a thing, so the result isn’t perfect, but I love it all the same.

I think they’re cute. They're cozy. Plushy.

And now electric blue instead of boring gray.

Under the walnut tree, there lives my little neighbour.

Going for a short walk on a cold, gray day, I noticed a new neighbour. We chilled together for a brief while, watching the fog on the mountains.

They like lo-fi hip-hop beats.

As I was going to get my bike fixed, I stumbled into a prime candidate for my next urbex adventure. I will scout the area and gather intel before taking any action.

Just bought my first homestead and this is my first forage off of it.

Over the winter holidays period I had some time to kill, so I experimented with React Native and Expo. I didn't want to make the usual TO-DO list or weather app, but rather something useful to me and, hopefully, others. Thus, I made a character tracker for a game I already talked about: #DURF. As an added learning experience, I made it in English, Italian, and Esperanto.
