This winged #ant (#Nylanderia, I think) is holding something that it must have brought with it into the #SLAM #Malaise trap (Aranda, ACT, Australia, 27 Jan - 3 Feb 2023). It's not part of anything else in the trap.
What is it? At first I assumed it was part of something's antenna, but the structure seems not to be animal-like.
Charles Henry Turner was a pioneer in entomology - and he couldn't get a job in higher ed, so he taught high school biology.
