Some important work on "AI" shows problems with general purpose abstract systems for imitating textual patterns. Yet, transformer-based feedforward networks like GPT-4 and Llama can't consistently reproduce many kinds of textual structure that are straightforward for people!

They don't model negation: ask it to write poetry that doesn't rhyme. (what works is to ask it to write in the style of Rupi Kaur - or Allen Ginsberg - less famous non-rhymers won't work).
