How it works?
We can visualise how landscapes evolve by assigning dates to colour channels. This composite merges #Sentinel-1 radar images from three dates:

πŸŸ₯ Red Channel: 02/08
🟩 Green Channel: 21/07
🟦 Blue Channel: 09/07

This clearly shows the before, during, and after stages of the landslide event:

β€’ Dark blue: The river's original course, consistent across all dates
β€’ Red: The landslide area and the newly exposed riverbed
β€’ Cyan: The water pool formed by the landslide dam

🚨 Late on July 30, 2024, the land along the southern bank of the#ChilcotinRiver in Farwell Canyon, British Columbia, #Canada, began to subside and flow into the valley below. The landslide formed a debris mound that stretched 1,000 meters in length and 600 meters in width. This obstructed the river, completely stopping its flow.

The multitemporal #Sentinel-1 composite below combines three images from different dates to reveal the dramatic changes in the landscape. [🧡 1/3]

One of my favourite EO places on Earth: Yana river in Siberia! Look at this meandering giant. You can observe many geomorphic features here, like depositions, oxbow lakes, scars, cut-offs, etc. You can look into centuries of history here…
