Honestly, watching the complete downfall of #twitter has been really entertaining. However, I can't help but feel sad for those who built their entire careers and reputation on it, only to have it destroyed within weeks by a self-absorbed man-child who lacks any humanity who only has the ability to solve problems by either throwing money at it or throwing a tantrum.
I've not been on #mastodon or in the #fediverse for very long. However, I have been noticing a pattern where more often than not the hashtags #photography , #art and #mastoart are regularly trending.
This is really telling and interesting because most social media sites have transitioned over to mostly video based content. I know that this was met with a lot of disdain by content creators and artists on #instagram as it was made clear that the algorithm will prioritise videos over static photos.
However, from my understanding of how mastodon works, static photos thrive here. Without the video element, it's so much quieter here and more peaceful. As much as I love watching videos, I miss social media just being what it used to be.
Maybe I'm just getting old 😝
