@gossithedog "Part of today ..."

@davidzipper "Black and Hispanic men are four times more likely to be killed while walking than the general
U.S. population."

That blows my mind.

New paper from the US Department of Transportation's Volpe Center examines pedestrian deaths and urban arterial design across rich nations. https://international.fhwa.dot.gov/programs/mrp/docs/FHWAPL2-020_GBP_Ped_Safety%20_Desk_Review_final102822.pdf

Only one country studied saw an increase in ped deaths from 2000-19. Guess which one?

@djdellamorte I prefer a world where a complement is courtesy and not currency.
@andrew I wasn't a heavy Twitter user in the first place, and Mastodon's design an organization address the biggest problems I had with it.

Hey, did you know you can follow hashtags & have them appear in your Home timeline?

โžก๏ธ For the web interface > Click a hashtag > then at the top of the column, click the "person +" icon.

(If you don't see it, could be that your server isn't on version 4.0 yet. Here is an example screenshot: https://github.com/mastodon/mastodon/pull/18862)

Add ability to follow hashtags in web UI by Gargron ยท Pull Request #18862 ยท mastodon/mastodon

Follow-up to #18809. I used the user-plus/user-times icons because they are associated with following/unfollowing, even though in this case no user is involved.

What a pleasure to use a social media service with no algorithms, no advertising, and no surveillance. #Mastodon is great.

Thank you, @Gargron !

@adymitruk I agree. But even if you accept that, diagramming communication in a event-driven architecture is very difficult. UML isn't sufficient, BPMN is too complex, and C4 only prescribes granularity. What do you find to be the best way diagram "this is how it should work"?
I think I'll skip Web3 and wait for Web for Workgroups 3.11 right away.

@gossithedog Weren't they using lines of code as the primary metric?

"If we wish to count lines of code, we should not regard them as 'lines produced' but as 'lines spent'." - Edsger Dijkstra
