Countryside - Old Places - Art
Finding joy in simple pleasures. Walks in the countryside, visits to historic old places and making art in various ways, mostly mixed media or stitch.
One of life's best tiny pleasures is early morning coffee on the back step.
Not sure it really qualifies for #tombtuesday but this is where King Harold fell at the Battle of Hastings and was latterly the high altar of Battle Abbey. And my dog, paying her respects (and rueing the disaster for the working classes of the Norman Conquest), 2019

First celandines along the village lane. Always a good sign and today it’s actually sunny!

Definitely coming into peak daffodil season across North East England just now and with sunshine featuring in the forecast in the coming days, hopefully they'll help brighten up the new season even further.
These glorious specimens are pictured blooming in Barnard Castle, Co Durham, you know, that place where you go if you want to test your eyes!

Last summer I started on a long held ambition to walk the River Wye/Afon Gwy from Severn to source. After doing 70 miles of the #WyeValleyWalk a combination of train difficulties, worsening weather and finally Covid stopped my progress at Hay on Wye.

Delighted to be back on it today, a short 8 mile section of changeable spring weather and stunningly beautiful scenery between Hay and Boughrood, the Black Mountains an ever present companion.

Today's imagined landscape was inspired by Robin Hood's Bay - liberties have been well and truly taken...x
