“Death Valley Wildflowers” — Hillsides covered with wildflowers, Death Valley.

We just returned from another visit to Death Valley National Park. Wildflowers are blooming in California’s deserts and the show is far from over. It has been an odd weather year in California, but desert areas received abundant well-timed rainfall that is producing an above average (and perhaps earlier than usual?) wildflower bloom. It's the dead of Winter and there's 4 feet of snow on the ground, but I just remembered it's year 3 for my native plantings under that snow.

These plants are absolutely going to pop in Spring!

About 10 native Echinacea, half a dozen black-eyed susans, Penstemon hirsutus, Anemone canadensis, several rare narrow-leaved vervain plants, mountain mint, SO much Monarda Didyma and Fistulosa. AH it's going to be so great, and just starting to move toward establishing to thriving this coming season!
