Kicking these tires. Interests include coding, soccer, and space. He/him.

So I'm told that my current instance of #Mastodon is shutting down in December - which is totally understandable.

This brings up a question I'm sure others have faced - how to pick a new instance? Options include focusing on geography, institutional affiliation, professional interest, etc.

Is there a hashtag on this platform for sharing thoughts like "something that makes me happy today" ?

I've been trying to cultivate a habit of identifying specific things for which I can be grateful, or things that make me smile, etc. I've felt myself using social media at times as a "what should I be angry about today", and I'm trying to resist that for myself.

Sigh... I used to sign up for new social networks pretty regularly, but have apparently gotten rusty.

Let's see how this goes...
