Kicking these tires. Interests include coding, soccer, and space. He/him.

So I'm told that my current instance of #Mastodon is shutting down in December - which is totally understandable.

This brings up a question I'm sure others have faced - how to pick a new instance? Options include focusing on geography, institutional affiliation, professional interest, etc.

The next step comes in an hour, when I get an indication of whether these thoughts have a future at work - or whether I might have a possible future project to share at @thatandromeda 's social coding club.

@Ofsevit @universalhub The kicker is that the one working escalator is going down, and not up. I'm having a hard time believing that it would only run in one direction, but maybe?
@kingargyle Now I want to calculate the playing-time adjusted average age of the USWNT over the last few tournaments.

@yelly We just watched Across the Spiderverse last night, at the insistence of YoungMorphosis (who has proclaimed it their #2 movie of all time).

I'm not sure I'd go _that_ far, but it was quite a fun watch. Feels like something to watch multiple times to catch everything that goes by.

@jessamyn I may be too cynical in my assumption that they likely don't mention accessibility at all - but I kind of doubt it.
@sanjaromin *raises hand* - it wasn't what got me into soccer, but the 1999 Women's World Cup was one of my favorite experiences as a fan. I was lucky enough to be in the stadium for the final, and the feeling outside afterwards was amazing.

Young Morphosis and I visited the Lowe Art Museum this afternoon as part of a campus visit to the University of Miami. This piece, Sol LeWitt 's "Wall Drawing No. 245" proved much more thought provoking than I was expecting. #Art #SolLeWitt

I'll try to explain a bit more down thread from this.

@yelly Yeah, I'm kind of thinking along similar lines. Do you know if there's a Mastodon client that allows simultaneous sessions with multiple accounts?

Having a sports alt might help me focus on gaming / other hobbies here, like the rabbit hole of No Man's Sky that YoungMorphosis pushed me down a week or so ago. Again.
