A geek of many flavours. Sometimes I have no words. Perpetual autumn.
Spring sun is thawing my ice.
The shitty work week (and year) ended with a crapload of a day. Fortunately I had a doctor's appointment 3 p.m. so had to leave early or I might still be there fretting. Adulted hard by also visiting an optician and a dentist - and even the latter was more fun than work. Turned off work app notifications on my phone in the waiting room.

Got the teen FanRoll's Advent dice calendar (2024 ed.) and gotta say, finding a new die on the kitchen table every morning brings me more joy than my own The Mallows marshmallow calendar.

The teen insists on taking a really early bus so I'm not there to see the calendar opening, but I can imagine it, and love it that they want to share it by leaving the loot out.

The fantastic Evolution of Horror podcast has published the first 24 movies of the new 'Nature Bites Back!" season. To my great disappointment only 1 of them is streaming in my numerous services and only 6 are rentable (in Finland). Hands down the worst ratio so far. (No complaint to EoH, I'm firmly blaming the services.)

I've really enjoyed first watching the movies and then listening to the related podcast episodes but I may really miss out this time.

Quick search found me a Reddit overview of the 'race in D&D' topic (specifically "Why keep "races" in ONE D&D?") that was pretty predictable but did educate me on related terminology in a bunch of other #ttrpg systems.

Gotta say "ancestry" appeals to me. But what would be the handy Finnish equivalent? @pare what does L&L use?

(Edit: typo fix)

@pare excellent points, thanks. Disappointing to hear L&L seems (as) complex (as regular 5E); I haven't read those rules yet but will eventually 'cause I'm stoked by the translation/adaptation.

FFS I've been dancing this "to D&D or not to D&D?" dance for over two decades already... This time around I'm doing it for my teen who is Super Into D&D Right Now :)

I'm low-key planning a #ttRPG campaign for friends who are not very experienced with D&D. 5E seems rather beginner friendly, and I was inspired by a custom race (do we still call them races?) of a "living plush toy" that I just knew would tickle one of my players. Alice in Wonderland goes Feywild via the Changeling.

It was definitely not rope.

The braided fibers were human hair, I was certain.

So I followed it, half expecting a young royal of some sort or another up in a tower, or in a well - trapped somewhere.

I'd walked almost a mile when I was disappointed to find the end of it, alongside a fancy dagger.

Whoever had felt weighed down by their tresses had chosen to shed them.

I followed the braid back, rolling it up neatly, just to tidy up a bit.
