I'm migrating to #BlueSky ๐Ÿฆ‹ atm and it really feels like the platform is taking off right now. I already found so many people from the good old days of Twitter there.

Come and join us on a friendlier social network without ads and currently no populist noise!

Dear followers,

you might have noticed that my activity her is null. I never really embraced this platform... and stayed active on Twitter.

In recent weeks there seems to be a larger move to Bluesky going on. I was able to find many old #RubyFriends and other people I interacted with on Twitter there.

Bluesky feels much more like the good old Twitter and is not limited by the server concept. Grab a (few) starterpacks and follow me at ๐Ÿฆ‹

I am actually surprised how big the difference between 2023 and 2022 is, as I also felt very productive for the largest part of the year.

The client cut their budget and I've worked less hours though. And I found less time for side-projects. And probably my PRs just got bigger. ๐Ÿ˜„

In my 12 years on @GitHub I never had as many #GitHubContributions as in 2022. This tells you that:

- former clients self-hosted repos
- used #GitLab
- used #BitBucket
- I've worked too much last year

To a better 2023 ๐Ÿ˜„

It has taken me quite some time to find an #email provider that fits my needs:
- privacy focused
- support for 1+ custom domains
- support for 2+ users
- very low traffic
- very low cost

Basically a family email domain for private use. These plans mostly donโ€™t exist f.e. at protonmail.

Finally found it with #migadu. Simply amazing offer for 1.6$/month.

Turns out that Adobe is collecting all of its customers' pictures into a machine learning training set.

This is opt-out, not opt-in so if you use Lightroom, for example, it defaults to adding all of your photos to the set.

If these are unpublished pictures, work-in-progress, etc. they'll still be analysed as soon as they're synced.

I've been using Lightroom to sync photos from my Windows desktop to my iPad. Now I need to reconsider that.

Want to work on Mastodon full time? Iโ€™d like to pay a Rails dev for the next 3+ months to implement some auth improvements that matter to me but also just burn down bugs, make perf improvements, whatever is needed as this place grows. Remote 100% ok but ideally need 1+ hrs of Pacific time zone overlap, 3+hrs of GMT overlap, fair pay, meaningful work. [edit: email [email protected] to discuss more] #fedihire #ruby #rails #job

What is it on Mastodon with all those Manga pictures of nude girls?! ๐Ÿ˜•

I actually like to browse the federation timeline now and then, but all this "child" porn is really putting me off.
And as far as I've seen most of them don't use any tags or any CW and don't come from always the same servers, so I'm not aware of any way to easily block them.

Any ideas?

For my part, I've always seen them as something at the discretion of the author. As the reader, you have a plethora of tools to disengage from unwanted content on Mastodonโ€”with even better filters coming in 4.0โ€”and harassment is not one of them. People who are arriving now have as much right to be here and bring their own culture as the ones who came before them.
