Carbon offsetting is a growing business. Like any market, it needs standards on how their main outcome is calculated. Otherwise the service providers can make it seem they deliver a lot of bang for the buck. https://www.theguardian.com/environment/2023/jan/18/revealed-forest-carbon-offsets-biggest-provider-worthless-verra-aoe

Guilty of these shocking breaches of epistolary etiquette? Do better

Out today, my short piece in Nature Medicine about what scientists can do as authors to combat misinformation and disinformation about their own work.

Stages of getting into a new research thing

1. No one has thought of this
2. Oh, some people have, but it’s not exactly the same
3. Oh, it’s exactly the same
4. OMG, everyone already knows about this, but they all call it something different

There are three kinds of lies: lies, damned lies, and sample size calculations
