I've had this chest of drawers for ~10 years now, inherited from my mum when it no longer fit her aesthetic.

She must have bought it ~35 years ago from an antique dealer, and afaik it's Victorian.

I never thought much of it. It's just a quirky piece from my childhood that I remember along with some large wooden blanket boxes that housed all of our board games. It just so happens that it now lives in my house.

Today I felt compelled to investigate its odd woodgrain.

Turns out, it's fake... 🧵

Great visualisation for the efficiency of cursor based pagination from @jessicamauerhan at #ipc #webinale. Did you know that limit-offset pagination has to scan the whole database to figure out what comes next?

That's a long time if you're on the last page of thousands of results. But it doesn't have to be that way - investigate adding cursors to your data sets. With appropriate indices, the time required is constant.
