Ironically, humans aren't their target audience. It's the equivalent of click farming for website ads.

Goes like this:
- generate crappy ai book
- publish book on KU
- get page reads using bots
- m.b. get some people to download the crappy book, read a few pages at most, and delete it

Since KU pays per page, presumably they're hoping to stay under the radar long enough that they get a buck or two before getting banned.

Multiply this by 500 books in an attempt to earn $500.

"Duuude... Are you seriously gonna drink that?"

Jeff tipped the flask on its side and watched as the sludgy mixture slowly slid along it. His friend looked a bit green in the face at the thought of downing his own matching potion.

"Well, the hedge witch said it would innoculate us against the swamp curse. Better some temporary discomfort than a week sitting on the latrine." Jeff uncorked his vial and threw it back.

"Uh, you do know what innoculate means, right?"

They tend to specialize in helping hoarders, but they should be happy to help anyone else who has trouble sorting through junk and creating an organization system.

Frankly, it took hiring an "organization helper" on taskrabbit for me to get off my butt and do something about the mess in my crawl space and basement.
They took a look at the space, recommended containers / shelving, and having a set date when they came to help me clean up kept me accountable.
Once you have a place for things, it's easier to get over the initial "I don't know where to start".

Volunteer to help fix someone else's problems? Sure. Solve my own problems? Maybe tomorrow...

I'm used to my own problems, so they're boring. Other people's problems are novel and exciting.

Easy mistake to make. You're thinking of accountability machines, which are commonly considered to be vaporware.

Intricate mechanical systems are really interesting. It's easy to forget that many things we assume require electronics are actually just made more compact, affordable, and convenient. People found ways to do them before computers and electrical signals.
For example, most people know about abbacuses, but I think fewer are aware now that typewriter-sized mechanical calculators exist, and advanced to small pocket-sized rotary calculators.

I missed something on Patch Tuesday. It started with a rattle in the server enclosure. Figured it was just a rat, so I left out some bait.

Things escalated. The bait was gone, and the trap was left a twisted mess.
Tried poison next. The intern didn't show up for lunch. We found him in the neighboring rack.

I'm prepared now. My shotgun's full of consecrated rock salt. The silver penguin medallion hanging from my wrist hums.
