"Duuude... Are you seriously gonna drink that?"

Jeff tipped the flask on its side and watched as the sludgy mixture slowly slid along it. His friend looked a bit green in the face at the thought of downing his own matching potion.

"Well, the hedge witch said it would innoculate us against the swamp curse. Better some temporary discomfort than a week sitting on the latrine." Jeff uncorked his vial and threw it back.

"Uh, you do know what innoculate means, right?"

The bleeding had stopped, but a new concern had arisen. His skin was becoming inflexible and wooden around the former wound… and it was slowly spreading outward. It hadn’t become an actual problem yet, but he was beginning to suspect why this forest was potentially so densely populated. Wincing at the thought-in-progress; populated by trees, and not much in the way of animal life larger than a bird or rodent.

At least the bleeding had stopped.

“Just apply this poultice, it said…”
