Environmentalist Lawsuit Halts Construction of Florida’s ā€˜Alligator Alcatraz’

Environmental groups allege that officials broke federal law by rushing construction without attaining public input or an environmental impact statement.

EDIT: We reached our goal and can pay our phone bill now. Thank you all so much for helping us out in a time of need!

[Please boost for reach.]

Hi, all. We could really use your help!

Our overdue phone bill has to be paid today, or it will be cut off. It's $313.66. We have $80.60. We need to somehow come up with $233.06 by the end of the day. We also have to eat tonight.

Small amounts add up. If you can only spare a dollar or two, it still helps! If you're broke too, there's still the boost button!

We really appreciate any and all help! Thank you all so much for keeping us afloat while we get this short-term disability snafu sorted out with the insurance company!

@RationalizedInsanity Observationally, that seems a very Christian religion influenced thing:
Christianity has a built in moral obligation to convert others to the religion, often phrased as innocuous sounding things like "spreading the good news".
Christianity also has built in that this religion is the only one that is true and everyone else is wrong. It claims eternal punishment for having other religious ideas. This comes back to converting others to "save them" from said eternal punishment.
Different sects push this to different degrees, but I think it's always there to some degree. I'm led to believe churches like hillsong that have been successful in the USA recently are particularly heavy on this sort of aspect.

Apply that general thinking to politics and you would get the kind of behaviour described I think: my way of thinking is the right way and I have a moral obligation to convert you to my way of thinking. Logic and discussion stops entering into it and belief is blindly pushed.

Are there any trans-focused organisations or news accounts here on the Fediverse that you think I might like to follow?

Boosts are really helpful, as this account is a single-user instance now so there are no connections aside from people I already follow and people who already follow me!

Took it to a discord server, and had it pointed out that this is basically a form of Genetic Fallacy. #philosophy #logic
#philosophy and #logic question:
Is there already a word for the fallacy that I call in my head the #SinnersFallacy? Which is the fallacy that someone being a morally bad person excludes them from ever being correct about something.
I'm of the opinion that you shouldn't trust bad people to be honest, but that means extra scrutiny of their claims is warranted if you do engage, not that we should assume they speak in bizzaro-talk and always say the opposite of what's true so dismiss everything

I barely even have words for what a fucked up idea it is that parents have *rights* and not *responsibilities* where their children are concerned. It shouldn't have to be a radical statement to declare that *children are people*, but it is indeed quite radical, even amongst supposed "progressives."

Let me say it again, then: children are people.

We have $7.57 *total*.

I have an appointment with a new doctor at 2pm (about 2 hours from now) to try and get these health issues sorted so I can get back to work. There is probably going to be a $20 copay. We will also need gas to get there.

I'm trying not to even think about dinner tonight. And I'm pretty much resigned that we will lose our car on the 8th. :(

I could really use some help, y'all. I'm starting to panic.

Hot take: Trauma, or more specifically, people who refuse to get help with their trauma, is likely the largest root cause of violence and death in the world.

Certainly not saying apologia for awful humans who commit mass violence and genocide and shit, but a whole lot of them do show many of the symptoms that somewhere in their past, they went through some bad shit, and never were willing to work on it in a healthy manner.
