@katyarnie @jikahn that would be lovely!
The Organised Chaos band will be performing at Hot Numbers, Gwydir St, Cambridge at 19:30 on 20 January 2023 with Peter Shepherd on piano, Bert Schilperoort on drums @jikahn on bass, and me on alto sax, possibly with another front line player TBD. In the spirit of Martin Kemp, our much missed friend and leader,, we'll have a few invited guests doing spots with us.
Please boost

@jikahn very much looking forward to this
A small reminder that baby Puffins are called Pufflings! This toot is intended to bring some extra joy to your timelines today. As you were. 😊 #Toot #Puffins #Boost #Birds
My new “the purpose of the system is what it does” sticker courtesy of @daedalus (now with image caption)

Hey all, with the continued influx of Twitter people, I'm once again seeing a drop in the number of people who add alt text/image descriptions to what they post, denying access to many disabled users here.

Exactly how you do this varies by Mastodon client app, but it is usually just below the image once you upload & before posting.

Even a short-but-useful description is better than nothing—focus on what you're trying to get others to get from the image rather than describing every detail.

Am I the only person who thought this was a caterpillar at 1st glance?

Every time “Can’t you just” starts to come out of your mouth, that is a cue to:

1. STOP
2. repeat to yourself, “I do not understand”
3. and then listen.

Practice the habit in advance, so you’re ready in the moment. I’ve certainly found •I• have to. It is so hard to tame this unhelpful reflex! But it’s also possible.

I have just learned there is a #mosstodon hashtag here. I recently encountered some very cool moss covering the Eldhraun Lava Field in Iceland. The moss makes the lava look like trolls!

Am I the only person who thought this was a caterpillar at 1st glance?
@Spiggitzfan i didn't read your caption and i thought it was a caterpillar
@theguy @Spiggitzfan I only realized it wasn’t because of the caption. I was like “a caterpillar…standing on flowers?”
@Spiggitzfan No, you aren't. It took me a while to see anything else than a caterpillar with.... legs¿?
@Spiggitzfan Wow! What kind are they?
@Sunny05 @Spiggitzfan someone in thread said they were Bee Eaters. Just had a quick search, I think they are!
@galactico @Sunny05 @Spiggitzfan Yeah, they're European Bee Eaters.
@WetLettuceLeaf @galactico @Spiggitzfan Thank you! They sure are beautiful. I wonder how old they are and how much they weigh - must be a sturdy limb. They sure are snuggled in closely, all nine, if I counted correctly. Anyway, thanks for the answer about what kind.
@galactico @Spiggitzfan Thank you! They are beautiful, and the photography is great.

@Spiggitzfan
It took me awhile to see anything BUT a caterpillar then the caterpillar was gone

and the birds are laughing

Thanks! 😂🌱

@dennis_jernberg

@Spiggitzfan that's objectively a caterpillar at first glance
@Spiggitzfan no. Absolutely not. Increble. Thanks 🪶💙💚💛🔭
@Spiggitzfan No, I thought it was a lazy looking caterpillar 🤣 haha
@Spiggitzfan and second and third glance.
@Spiggitzfan I honestly thought it was pure death-ipllar.
@Spiggitzfan First, second, third. I am not saying anything else, but zoom was involved. #WearYourGlasses
@Spiggitzfan
No, had to look twice when I read your post. It’s beautiful
@Spiggitzfan yeah, my neural network isn't perfect.
@Spiggitzfan I would still be seeing caterpillar if not for the comments
@Spiggitzfan it is only because you said it was not!
@Spiggitzfan no, altho one woman thought it was a feather duster
@Spiggitzfan I also thought it was a beautiful caterpillar as I first scrolled to the picture.
@Spiggitzfan No, you're not. I had to look three times before I saw what it really was.
@Spiggitzfan Looks like a birdobeam to me
@Spiggitzfan silly birbs. I’ve never seen birds sit together like this. If anything, they sit on the same tree or wire, but never bunched up like this. I wonder what they’re trying to accomplish here.
@ruleofthree maybe they're cold?
@Spiggitzfan that does make sense. but still, most birds I see are at most passive to each other and don’t get this close.
@Spiggitzfan Awesome! I needed help w/ that one! 😂
@Spiggitzfan oh cool it’s birds. Yes my first thought was pretty caterpillar.
@Spiggitzfan it’s not a caterpillar?
@Spiggitzfan
"Wait, what is it then... Ooooooooh."
@Spiggitzfan holy cow! You mean it’s NOT a caterpillar?
Oh wait …
